Winter. The best time to visit the Caribbean.

Although almost all year round you can enjoy the beauties of the Caribbean, the best months are from January to March, as the climate is cooler and drier. What’s more, in the months of August, September and October, there are more tropical storms.

What's the climate like in the Caribbean?

The climate in the Caribbean region is tropical, characterised by warm temperatures all year long, with an average of around 25°C. Temperatures tend to vary little in the different months of the year, with highs close to 30°C in summer and lows of 22°C or 23°C in winter. May is the hottest month of the year and January is the coldest month.

The climate in the Caribbean is also quite humid, with relative humidity hovering between 77% and 82.5%. Humidity is lower in the winter months, even though it's still high.

Meanwhile, rain falls mainly in the autumn, especially between October and December, decreasing in the winter. The driest month is March, while the rainiest month is October.

Dry season vs Rainy season

Dry season in the Caribbean: This is in winter, between the months of December and April, with cooler temperatures averaging 26°C. Rainfall decreases in this season.

Rainy season in the Caribbean: This is in summer, between the months of May and November, with average temperatures of 28°C, higher humidity and abundant rainfall, usually in the form of short downpours. This is also the hurricane season in the Caribbean.

Tips for dealing with the Caribbean climate

- Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration
- Use sunscreen and UV glasses to protect against the strong sunlight
- Wear clothes made from fresh fabrics such as cotton or linen, as they're better in high temperatures
- Constantly apply insect repellent, as that there are lots of mosquitos in tropical climates
