Sirenis Hotels & Resorts, in its continued support for a transition based on more sustainable practices, has installed 4,000 square metres of photovoltaic solar panels at the Sirenis Seaview Country Club and Tui Blue Aura family resorts, the two hotels located in Port des Torrent, Ibiza.
This project, as the largest photovoltaic park currently on the island, will cover up to almost 30% of facilities’ energy requirements. These panels were installed in collaboration with BBVA, who provided funding for this project in Ibiza.
“Our objective is not only to fund the project, but also to assist the client in all of their needs and support them in transitioning towards a more sustainable world” stated Carlos Rodríguez, regional manager for the Eastern Regional Department for Business & Corporate Banking at BBVA.
According to Pedro Matutes, Managing Director of Sirenis Hotels & Resorts, “this project will lead to a reduction of 666 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. That is the equivalent of planting 4,000 trees. Sirenis Hotels & Resorts intends to implement additional measures to save electricity by replacing electrical appliances with more energy-efficient options until it can cover an even higher amount of energy consumption at facilities during an average season.”
This new innovative photovoltaic facility at Sirenis Hotels & Resorts represents a significant increase in the use of green energies in Ibiza, as this project will generate 0.8 megawatts (MW).
They installed a total of 1,761 panels spread over 4,000 square metres of rooftop, without taking up any floor space in the Sirenis Seaview Country Club and Tui Blue Aura hotels, located in Port des Torrent, Ibiza.
An entire solar park located on the roof, without taking up any floor space.
By setting an example to others as a company that respects the Environment as part of its Corporate social responsibility initiatives, Sirenis Hotels & Resorts hopes that more and more tourism companies will become involved.
As tourism and the environment are linked, Sirenis Hotels & Resorts implements sustainability initiatives at all of its destinations, such as: Ibiza, Riviera Maya, Punta Cana and Cayo Santa María.
Shaping the future together.
