24 stretches of the Dominican coast, the hotel beach among them, have been internationally recognised with the Blue Flag award. The beach at Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort has been recognised with this award as clean, healthy, safe and accessible.

The section of the Uvero Alto-Macao beach operated by Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort is part of the exclusive group of environmentally responsible facilities for the conservation of the coastal area through the implementation of the Blue Flag status.

Each section participating in the programme should comply with a series of criteria for responsible management, water quality, environmental education, safety, services and accessibility evaluated by a demanding interdisciplinary panel, consisting of authorities from 11 institutions including: Ministers for the Environment and Natural Resources, Tourism, Education, the National Competitiveness Council, the National Aquarium, CONADIS, civil defence, CIBIMA, ASONAHORES and the Propagas Foundation.

Blue Flag is an award which represents the most demanding environmental quality standards which is internationally managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and nationally by the Dominican Republic Environmental Law Institute (IDARD).
