Water-based activities
Ibiza is a true paradise for lovers of water-based activities, from a quick dip in heavenly waters to any type of water sport. You can have a go at kayaking or paddleboarding to explore the most unspoilt parts of the coastline, such as tiny caves and secret coves. Scuba diving is also a great idea to discover the amazing seabeds found here. And, of course, hiking along the coastline is a wonderful way of coming across hidden places full of Mediterranean peace.
Aquarium Cap Blanc
For families, we recommend a trip to the Aquarium Cap Blanc, on the coast of Sant Antoni de Portmany. Known as the cove of the prawns, this natural cave – a former fishermen’s refuge – is home to a selection of the most representative species found in the sea off Ibiza. What’s more, there’s a wonderful bar on the terrace.
Sant Antoni Bay
The vast Sant Antoni Bay is a great place for leisurely strolls or thrilling activities, such as jet skiing, paddleboarding, sailing, kayaking, and so on. You can walk practically from one end to the other and admire stunning sunsets.
Sunsets
Talking about sunsets, we couldn’t omit Benirrás, the hippy cove perched on the northern coastline in the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja. Famous for its sundown drum parties, the beach lies opposite a stunning rock that further underlines its personality.
Cuisine
For foodies, Ibiza boasts an array of options that range from traditional cuisine, based on locally sourced fresh produce, to sophisticated culinary offerings from highly renowned chefs. Local highlights include bullit and guisat de peix, two classic and truly delicious fish stews.
World Heritage Site and Dalt Vila
Ibiza has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The renaissance walls of the old town embrace a stunning architectural complex that’s well worth a visit. The majestic buildings up the hill (Dalt Vila) and the Cathedral look down over the seafront neighbourhoods of La Marina and Sa Penya, offering an unmistakeable profile. You can enter Dalt Vila from Mercat Vell (Old Market) through the spectacular Portal de ses Taules gate after walking up a Roman stone drawbridge. The stroll up to the top is full of history-packed sights. Also included in the World Heritage Site are Ses Feixes, the former orchards that surrounded Ibiza Town with an Arab-style irrigation system; the Phoenician settlement of Sa Caleta, on the Sant Josep coastline; and the most important natural treasure, Posidonia, the marine plant that makes Ibizan waters so crystal clear.
Las Dalias
When you fancy a bit of shopping, one must-visit is the hippy market of Las Dalias. Located in Sant Carles, in the northeast of the island, it boasts dozens of stalls with all types of handmade items and a sublimely laid-back atmosphere.
Ses Salines Nature Park
For nature lovers, the Ses Salines park is a must. The salt flats, operational ever since the Phoenician era, are home to a wonderful selection of birdlife and the whole park is lined with breathtaking beaches such as Es Cavallet, Ses Salines and Es Codolar, all with stunning cliffs as backdrops.
Marina Botafoch
Glamour is everywhere you look at Marina Botafoch, a luxurious yacht haven with chic restaurants such as Heart Ibiza, run by the Adrià brothers, and shows such as the Cirque du Soleil, the Casino de Ibiza and the ever-popular club Lío, to name just a few.
Nightlife
Oh, and the nightlife! Ibiza is the world capital of dance music, thanks to the long list of outstanding clubs found here, such as Pachá, Amnesia, Es Paradís, and many more. And let’s not forget about the dozens of beach clubs dotted around the island that are the place for fun and frolics all through the summer.
