In Cuba there are two currencies, the Cuban Peso and the Convertible Peso. The convertible peso is the currency accepted in all the shops, restaurants and for other purchases.
• What is the official language?
The official language is Spanish, however in the tourist areas, English is spoken.
• Is it possible to change money or withdraw cash in the hotel?
Yes, you will be able to exchange money and there is a cash-point machine in the area.
• Is there a shopping centre in the Resort?
Yes, there is a small souvenir shop in the hotel.
• Where is the closest shopping centre?
Guardalavaca is a tourist area with various services and shopping centres. It is located 15 km from the hotel and is reached by taxi or bus.
• Can we buy alcohol and tobacco in the resort?
Yes.
• Is there a public bus service?
Yes.
• Is it necessary to rent a car to go to the city centre?
No, you can take a taxi or public transport to reach the city centre.
• What is the climate like in Cuba?
The climate in Cuba is tropical and the country has the same seasons as the north hemisphere. The average temperature varies between 25º and 28º. The hottest months start in May until October and the temperature can reach more than 30º
• Which clothes are best in summer?
It is preferable to wear cool clothes and of course don’t forget your swimming costume! Take light cover ups too for the evenings.
• Is there a Dress Code in the restaurant?
Yes, a dress code is required for dinner in the themed restaurants: gentlemen should wear long trousers and shirts/T-shirts, and no beach flip flops are allowed.
• What is the best time to sunbathe?
With the tropical climate of Cuba, it is preferable to avoid the sun between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.; this is especially important for children.
• Which sun protection factor should I use?
The protection factor depends on your skin. If you travel in summer, the temperature can reach more than 35º and we would advise you to use a minimum factor of 20.
• Is the water in the hotel drinkable?
Yes but we recommend that you drink the bottled mineral water available in the resort.
• Are any vaccinations necessary?
It is not necessary to be vaccinated. However we would advise you to check with your doctor concerning your previous vaccinations.
• Are there special dishes for diabetics and vegetarians?
Yes, on request.
• Are food allergies taken into consideration?
All dishes are labelled.
• Can we buy medicine in the hotel?
We have a pharmacy on site and a medical centre.
• Is the hotel accessible for handicapped guests?
The majority of the hotel areas are accessible, except the entertainment pool areas, where the different floor levels do not permit the installation of ramps. • Is it necessary to make a reservation for the thematic restaurants?
Yes, dinners in the thematic restaurants are subject to availability and reservations are necessary.
• What are the children’s facilities in the hotel?
There is a great Mini Club in the Holguin area offering: Mini Club for 4 to 8 years old (2 pools / Mini Disco / play room / sleeping room / mini volleyball); Mini Club for 8 to 12 years (ping-pong / table football / play station / reading room)
All rooms are air-conditioned.
• Is there baby food such as puree or soup?
Yes, and they can be also prepared upon request.
• Is there a baby sitter service in the hotel?
Yes, this service is available in the hotel with highly qualified staff. The mini club is open from 9:00 to 17:00 and if you require the service outside these times, there is an additional charge.(Minimum age: 3 years old)
